Avoiding mistakes in IP telephony

Dan Dacosta says that rolling out IP telephony locally will leave companies with a mixture of different types of infrastructure which can be hard to scale and manage. Giving local responsibility was the traditional way to roll out telephony and companies suffered the same problem with have too many different types of PBX.



Although being cautious with IP telephony roll-out is a good idea, companies should have an overall strategy before deploying it site-by-site. Dan recommends that companies understand what their employees' needs are and standardize on a single technology vendor.
