Improving business processes with unified communications

According to a survey carried out in summer 2009, the average knowledge uses seven different types of communications tools. Combined with increasing mobility, this communications glut is actually making it more difficult for employees to collaborate. Michael Burrell warns that disjointed communications is leading to slower business processes and lower productivity. Unified communications is the solution; it uses a single portable client for all communications methods and presence to advertise employees' availability. It allows employees to collaborate across big distances, helps accelerate workflows and creates a more agile business.
